Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is seeking a new graduate medical inpatient Registered Nurse to join our team at Baystate Medical Center (BMC) in Springfield, MA. Our medical unit is designed to support nurses in delivering exceptional patient care, with a focus on professional growth and learning opportunities within the region's only academic medical center. The medical unit, Springfield 6400, caters to a diverse patient population aged 22 to over 100 years, dealing with a range of common diagnoses including acute and chronic conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, infections, behavioral health issues, neurological and circulatory impairments, kidney disease, and diabetes. The unit is equipped with 32 beds and 16 semi-private rooms, and it has implemented several nurse-driven change projects aimed at improving patient care and operational efficiency. The unit manager is dedicated to fostering professional growth and has established a close partnership with the Physician Medical Director to ensure a collaborative approach to patient care. As a new graduate RN, you will receive supportive, individualized, and tailored orientation to help you transition smoothly into your role. The position requires working night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, with every other weekend and rotating holidays. Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the medical unit.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Monitor and assess patient conditions, reporting any changes to the medical team.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Educate patients and their families about health conditions and care plans.
  • Participate in nurse-driven change projects to improve patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.

Requirements

  • Successfully passed the Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification required.
  • Less than 1 year of RN experience is required.
  • Bachelor of Nursing Degree is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a medical-surgical nursing environment is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
