About the position

The Nurse Practitioner position in Cardiovascular Surgery involves providing high-quality care to patients undergoing cardiac procedures in a high-acuity environment. This role requires strong critical care experience, particularly in cardiac or vascular settings, and involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to manage complex cases, including those requiring mechanical support. The position is onsite in Philadelphia and includes rotating shifts with a focus on leadership, education, and professional practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients undergoing cardiac procedures, including coronary artery bypass and valve replacement.
• Manage pre-operative and post-operative patients in the ICU.
• Perform consultations for surgery and collaborate with intensivists and surgical physician groups.
• Lead and educate team members in the ICU setting.
• Skilled in performing invasive procedures such as central lines, dialysis catheters, arterial lines, and bronchoscopy.
• Manage complex critically ill cardiac surgery patients, including those on ECMO and VAD.

Requirements

• Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Masters Physician Assistant required.
• Active Pennsylvania State license in good standing at time of hire.
• AHA ACLS and CPR certification required.
• Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience, preferably in cardiac care.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in managing patients with advanced modes of mechanical ventilation.
• Proficiency in performing bronchoscopy and other invasive procedures.
