About the position

The Nurse Manager for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Ambulatory Surgery, and Endoscopy is responsible for overseeing the operations of these units at O'Connor Hospital. This role involves managing staff, ensuring quality patient care, and collaborating with various departments to meet institutional goals. The Nurse Manager will also be involved in staff development, budgeting, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), and other assigned units on a 24-hour basis.
• Analyze staff utilization and workload distribution to ensure effective management and quality care.
• Assess educational needs of staff and the quality of nursing care delivered.
• Develop staffing patterns to provide quality patient care.
• Collaborate with the Director of Critical Care Nursing and OR Services to influence institutional goal setting.
• Participate in long-range planning and establish goals for quality patient care delivery.
• Facilitate communication between departmental staff and medical staff.
• Participate in the selection and orientation of nursing staff.
• Promote compliance with regulatory standards and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Evaluate the delivery of nursing care and support services.

Requirements

• Valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
• Minimum of two years of recent experience in post-anesthesia or critical care nursing.
• Minimum of two years of progressive nursing management experience.
• Possession of a baccalaureate degree in nursing and a master's degree in nursing or a management discipline, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a tertiary level acute care hospital setting.
