About the position

The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the nursing unit in a 705-bed rehabilitation and nursing care facility, ensuring it operates safely and effectively on a 24-hour basis. This role involves managing staff, ensuring compliance with medical records, and facilitating interdisciplinary care planning to provide optimal patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the nursing unit to ensure proper and safe functioning on a 24-hour basis.
  • Review medical records for compliance and conduct environmental rounds to resolve issues.
  • Assign duties to licensed personnel and supervise ancillary staff.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of all unit reports.
  • Supervise the unit continuously and communicate with staff across all shifts.
  • Assess the need for additional equipment and oversee patient care management.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary care planning meetings and assist in developing care plans.
  • Collaborate with medical and interdisciplinary team members for optimal clinical management.
  • Perform required audits and participate in discharge planning.
  • Address patient/resident/family concerns and ensure proper documentation of incidents.
  • Manage the unit staffing plan and develop work schedules to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Evaluate admissions for compliance with policies and respond to reported occurrences.
  • Ensure completion of central line and intravenous therapies as per policy.
  • Respond to emergency codes and provide direction as needed.
  • Manage performance of direct and indirect reports, providing training and corrective action as necessary.
  • Utilize corporate resources for staffing and departmental support.
  • Monitor productivity and participate in annual budget preparation.
  • Interview and select qualified staff in collaboration with Human Resources.

Requirements

  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing preferred or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years clinical experience, including at least 2 years of management experience, preferably in a geriatric setting.

  • Competitive salary range of $120,000 - $150,000 per year
