About the position
This position is for a Medical Technician in Sisseton, SD, under the Federal service. To qualify, candidates must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position. This includes both paid and unpaid experience, such as volunteer work through National Service programs like the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps. Candidates will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part-time work. It is essential to clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held, along with the total number of hours worked per week.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory tests and examinations including chemical, microbiologic, hematologic, and blood banking.
- Prepare reports of findings from laboratory tests.
- Calibrate and operate analytical instruments to perform recurring tests and analyses.
- Apply methods and techniques appropriate to medical technology in clinical laboratory work.
Requirements
- At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-7 in the Federal service.
- Thorough understanding of methods, techniques, and practices in medical technology.
- Skill in calibrating and operating analytical instruments.
- Understanding of related disciplines such as microbiology, chemistry, physiology, and anatomy.
