About the position
The Clinical/Perioperative Nurse position at Martin Army Community Hospital involves providing comprehensive patient care in a surgical setting. The nurse will assess patients' physical conditions, develop individualized treatment plans, and implement nursing care according to established standards. This role includes emergency response, patient education, and supervision of nursing staff, ensuring high-quality care across all age groups.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for patient care activities, including assessment and documentation of patients' physical conditions.
- Individualizes treatment plans based on developmental needs and interprets patients' self-reports or behaviors.
- Observes patients for adverse conditions and initiates emergency measures when necessary.
- Performs various patient care procedures, including administering medications and operating specialized equipment.
- Teaches patients and their families about surgical procedures and documents education results.
- Conducts formal and informal in-services to address changing standards and guidelines.
- Supervises and leads nursing personnel when functioning as the charge nurse, monitoring staff performance and patient care assignments.
- Communicates significant changes in patients' conditions to surgeons or anesthesia personnel in a timely manner.
- Ensures accurate and timely documentation in patient charts and evaluates staff performance to meet Joint Commission standards.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- A graduate or higher-level degree in nursing from an accredited program is required.
- A current, active, full, and unrestricted nursing license from a U.S. state or territory is required.
- Must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
