About The Position

The Pre-op and PACU at Troy Beaumont is a fast-paced critical care unit that specializes in the preparation and recovery of patients who are undergoing a surgical procedure. The department is comprised of 3 pre-op areas and 3 PACU areas, specializing in both outpatient and inpatient surgeries. Staff who join these units should be teamwork oriented and possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and decision-making skills. This role provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. It includes safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. The role also provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
• Current CNA certification preferred
