About the position

The NSIP Masters Intern position at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) focuses on engaging students in research and development critical to national security, particularly in the fields of nuclear, chemistry, and biological technologies. Interns will work on challenging problems related to the prevention and countering of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, contributing to the lab's mission of safeguarding national security through innovative research and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in research and development projects related to national security, energy, and science.
  • Engage in one of seven focus areas including Applied Radiation Detection, Analytical Chemistry & Instrumentation, Chemical and Biological Signatures, Nuclear Material Processing, Nuclear Engineering, Radiochemistry, and Nuclear Signatures.
  • Collaborate with researchers to apply cutting-edge techniques in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear measurement and materials characterization.
  • Contribute to the development of novel sensor technologies and data analytics for threat detection.
  • Support the integration of experimental and analytical techniques to address complex national security challenges.

Requirements

  • Must be matriculated/enrolled in a Master's program at an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.3 is required.
