About the position

The NSIP Masters Intern position at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) focuses on engaging students in research and development related to national security, particularly in the fields of nuclear, chemistry, and biological technologies. Interns will tackle complex problems associated with counter-terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, contributing to the lab's mission of safeguarding national security through innovative scientific research and technology.

Responsibilities

• Participate in research and development projects within the Nuclear, Chemistry and Biological Technologies Division.
• Engage in one of seven focus areas including Applied Radiation Detection, Analytical Chemistry & Instrumentation, Chemical and Biological Signatures, Nuclear Material Processing, Nuclear Engineering, Radiochemistry, and Nuclear Signatures.
• Collaborate with experienced researchers to apply cutting-edge research to national security challenges.
• Contribute to the development of novel sensor technologies and data analytics techniques for threat detection.
• Support the analysis and characterization of nuclear materials and processes.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a Master's program at an accredited college or university.
• Minimum GPA of 3.3 is required.
