About the position
The National Security Internship Program (NSIP) at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) offers highly qualified students the opportunity to engage in research and development critical to national security, focusing on preventing and countering terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Interns will work in various focus areas, including applied radiation detection, analytical chemistry, nuclear material processing, and more, contributing to the lab's mission of safeguarding national security through innovative science and technology.
Responsibilities
- Participate in research and development projects related to national security, energy, and science.
- Engage in applied research in areas such as chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives measurement.
- Collaborate with teams to develop and apply advanced detection techniques and technologies.
- Contribute to the analysis and characterization of nuclear materials and processes.
- Support the development of novel sensors and data analytics for threat detection.
Requirements
- Must be matriculated/enrolled in a Master's program at an accredited college or university.
- Minimum GPA of 3.3 is required.
