About The Position

This role provides comprehensive outpatient psychiatric care through diagnostic evaluations, medication management, psychotherapy, and ongoing treatment planning for patients across the lifespan. The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner works with a high degree of clinical autonomy while collaborating closely with a supervising psychiatrist and interdisciplinary behavioral health team. The position involves balancing direct patient care with accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and coordination of services in a fast-paced rural healthcare environment. Common challenges include managing complex mental health conditions, responding to safety concerns, and supporting underserved populations with varying levels of access to behavioral health resources. The schedule is primarily clinic-based with responsibility for maintaining an independent patient panel, participating in care reviews, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Minnesota
  • Strong psychiatric diagnostic reasoning
  • Compassionate patient-centered communication
  • Independent yet collaborative clinical approach
  • Skilled in evidence-based psychotherapy
  • Organized in fast-paced clinical settings
  • Culturally sensitive to rural communities
  • Proficiency in evidence-based psychotherapy modalities (e.g., CBT, supportive therapy)

Nice To Haves

  • Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
  • Experience in outpatient psychiatry or behavioral health strongly preferred
