About the position

Emory Healthcare is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Pulmonary team at Emory University Hospital Midtown. This full-time position is designed for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) who has 2 to 3 years of Pulmonary experience. The role is structured for weekdays only, with no call, overnight, or weekend requirements, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule. As part of the Emory Healthcare Integrated Academic Health Care System, our Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners play a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care. In this position, the selected candidate will assist in the evaluation and treatment of patients, documenting care delivery in medical records. Responsibilities include conducting patient interviews, documenting patient histories, and performing physical examinations under the direction of a physician. The APP will also engage in specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, assist in diagnosing medical problems, develop care plans, and prescribe treatments. This role is pivotal in ensuring that patients receive comprehensive and compassionate care, reflecting Emory Healthcare's commitment to excellence in patient services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the evaluation and treatment of patients.
  • Document the delivery of care in the individual's medical records.
  • Conduct patient interviews and document patient histories, psychosocial histories, health status, and medical problems or potential problems.
  • Perform physical examinations and specialized diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures under the direction of a physician.
  • Assist physician in diagnosing medical problems, developing care plans, and prescribing treatment.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.
  • Currently licensed as an advanced practice nurse in the state of Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body, or Certified as a Physician's Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • May require at least one year of direct experience in one or more high acuity clinical specialties.
  • BLS and Healthcare Provider certifications required.
  • ACLS may be required in some areas.
