About the position
The LVN Charge Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care within the scope of practice to meet patients' needs according to established standards, physician orders, and regulatory guidelines. This role involves overseeing nursing assistants and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures in a long-term care setting.
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures established.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as necessary.
- Follow established procedure for charting and incident reporting.
- Follow company procedures for narcotic counting, pharmacy orders, and restraint reduction.
- Document any change in patient's conditions including but not limited to nutritional problems, infections, skin conditions, weight loss or any other noticeable changes.
- Utilize the Quality Life Manual for identification, placement, and monitoring of patients in the appropriate programs.
- Document and notify applicable departments of any patient's room changes, LOA, new admits, or discharges.
- Make rounds with physicians when necessary.
Requirements
- Current LVN/LPN license in practicing state.
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to acquire one.
- Long term care experience.
- Point Click Care charting experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in nursing management is preferred but not required.
