About the position

The IRR Project Manager at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a crucial role in supporting the North America Indigenous Right Relations (IRR) program. This position is responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and implementing complex initiatives that foster equitable partnerships with Indigenous Peoples. The role emphasizes the importance of right relations, respect, and collaboration to achieve conservation goals while ensuring that Indigenous voices and priorities are honored. The IRR Project Manager will lead diverse teams, manage project timelines, and facilitate communication across the organization to promote healthy, thriving Indigenous communities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the implementation of large and complex initiatives within the IRR program.
  • Develop project plans and establish team structures to ensure accountability and clarity of roles.
  • Facilitate meetings and manage timelines to support project execution.
  • Engage in issue resolution and conflict management to collaboratively solve complex problems.
  • Build relationships and lead diverse, multi-disciplinary teams across the organization.
  • Navigate interdependencies and ensure alignment of activities across the program's strategic pillars.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, political science, public policy, international relations, international development or related field.
  • 4 years of related experience including Indigenous studies, conservation practice, project management, and/or natural resource management.
  • Experience leading complex projects or strategic initiatives in an unstructured environment.
  • Experience researching, analyzing, and evaluating information from diverse sources and compiling it into cohesive reports.
  • Experience writing and editing promotional and informational material.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Indigenous Peoples or in multicultural/multidisciplinary contexts.
  • Familiarity with the histories, cultures, rights, and policies related to Indigenous Peoples of North America.
  • Experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion as it applies to conservation design and implementation.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Ability to develop and drive new ideas and approaches.
