About the position

The Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Level 3 position at Leidos in Huntsville, AL, focuses on providing expert non-destructive testing services, particularly in radiography, for the Hypersonic project and other related programs. The role involves evaluating aerospace hardware, developing inspection procedures, and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure quality and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate DoD and aerospace hardware with various radiographic inspection methods.
  • Work directly with engineering and analysis to develop accept and reject criteria based on test data.
  • Independently or as part of a team, write inspection and evaluation procedures for processes developed by the research team.
  • Develop and maintain indication logs on spreadsheets to track flaw locations throughout hardware fabrication.
  • Notify production and quality engineers of deficiencies or nonconformances using knowledge of industry codes and specifications.
  • Compare and reposition 3D models against scan data to determine the minimum envelope for material removal.
  • Review Digital & Film X-Rays (Classified and Unclassified) and CT scans.
  • Develop a summary of findings and key metrics, providing clarification of results to customers and team members.
  • Communicate effectively within a team environment and assist with other NDE programs to accumulate hours for additional NDE certifications.
  • Evaluate new jobs and programs and assist in inspection technique development.

Requirements

  • BS Degree and 8-12 years of experience or High School diploma and 12-16 years of experience.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain ASNT Level 3 and/or NAS-410 Level III certifications in Digital/Computed and Film Radiography.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in NDT.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train others.
  • Experience in internal audit practices with knowledge of root cause and corrective actions.
  • Capability to learn advanced NDT methods such as Computed Tomography (CT).
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, models, and specifications.
  • Consistent computer use skills, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
  • RT Level 3 qualification in other NDT Methods.
  • A.S. in NDT, B.S. in Science, or higher education is a plus.
  • Some travel may be required, typically no more than 10%.
  • Candidate with a current security clearance is a plus.
  • Computed Tomography Level 2 or 3 qualification is a plus.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $87,100.00 - $157,450.00 based on experience and qualifications.
