Non-Certified Pharmacy Technician
About The Position
Works in a fast-paced production environment known as an automated Central Fill Pharmacy. Assist pharmacists in the accurate preparation and distribution of prescription medications. This role requires strict adherence to standard operating procedures and facility policies, handling inquiries that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise, and preparing and affixing labels to prescription containers. The technician will also assist in adherence to quality assurance standards, gain a complete understanding of Hy-Vee’s retail pharmacy operations, and report any medication errors. Responsibilities include ordering, checking-in, and stocking pharmacy supplies, maintaining cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area, and adhering to all statutes and regulations pertaining to a non-certified pharmacy technician. Additional duties involve manually counting medication quantities, replenishing medication cells, and replacing empty medication cells with full ones for robots.
Requirements
- Must be 18+
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Working towards a licensed technician certification through a certified national program.
- Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near and far range with or without correction, field of vision, and color vision.
- Must be able to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, reaching, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Commitment to the Hy-Vee Mission and a willingness to promote the values of the company
- Strong leadership skills; ability to assist other members of the department.
- Must have the ability to do logical or scientific thinking to solve problems; several abstract and concrete variables.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving arithmetic, algebraic and geometric calculations
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, assisting in the preparation of accurate prescriptions.
- Must be able to compose original correspondence; follow technical manuals; have increased contact with people; evaluate technical data.
- Maintains the confidentiality of the customer’s private medical information according to the HIPAA act.

- Previous experience as a pharmacy clerk is preferred.

- Replaces empty medication cells and brings full cells to robots.
- Assists in areas as needed.
- Performs other related job duties and special projects as required.
- Assist in stocking of pharmacy supplies
