The Nocturnist Hospitalist Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant position at Methodist Health System involves working collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to hospitalized patients during night shifts. The role includes responsibilities such as conducting assessments, ordering diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, and maintaining accurate medical records. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough physical assessments and medical histories of hospitalized patients.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests including imaging studies and laboratory tests.
  • Make accurate diagnoses based on clinical findings and test results.
  • Develop and implement patient-tailored treatment plans.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding their condition and treatments.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and follow standard practices of documentation.
  • Instruct patients on prescribed therapeutic regimens, home care, and health maintenance.
  • Stay up to date on evidence-based practices relevant to hospital medicine and follow hospital-based protocols.
  • Provide follow-up and health maintenance care to patients in accordance with protocols established by physicians.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Refer deviations from normal to the appropriate healthcare professional/practitioner.
  • Provide a rotating schedule of cross coverage or admissions for the hospitalist group.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Master's Degree.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program with acute care qualifications/certification required.
  • Recognition as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner by the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas.
  • Current Licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas to practice professional nursing or Current Licensure by the Board of Medical Examiners to practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • At least two (2) years experience preferred but new graduates welcome to apply.
  • Must be current in CPR and ACLS certified.
