About the position

The Environmental Education Fellow position at the Student Conservation Association, Inc. is an internship role focused on providing environmental education to underserved communities in the Capital District of New York. The fellow will engage in outdoor programs, classroom visits, and public presentations, emphasizing culturally responsive education. The role includes developing outreach programs, conducting on-site educational activities, and participating in community stewardship projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, and implement outreach programs for underserved schools in urban areas of Albany, Schenectady, and Troy.
• Develop and present on-site environmental education programs for students from pre-K to high school.
• Participate in stewardship activities such as community science research and invasive species removal.
• Present special programs and services at local events, including for special needs audiences.
• Participate in training and professional development sessions.
• Engage in SCA Corps-wide trainings and service projects.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in education, environmental studies, conservation/wildlife sciences, or related disciplines preferred.
• Some experience dealing with youth.
• Some experience in public speaking contexts.
• Valid driver's license of 3+ years with a clean driving record.
