About the position

The Graduate RN position at Massachusetts General Hospital is part of the Transition to Practice Program (TPP) designed for new graduate registered nurses. This 12-month program aims to provide a solid foundation for RNs to become independent clinicians capable of delivering safe patient care. The program combines onsite and virtual learning, utilizing the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program platform, which includes an evidence-based curriculum and practice project to enhance clinical skills and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the Transition to Practice Program (TPP) for new graduate RNs.
  • Engage in onsite and virtual learning classes as part of the program.
  • Complete an evidence-based practice project.
  • Deliver safe patient care across various hospital units.
  • Work full-time (36-40 hours) on a rotating day/night shift schedule.

Requirements

  • Active Massachusetts RN license prior to start date.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required.
  • Ability to work full-time, including day/night rotating shifts, every other weekend, and holidays.
  • Experience as an EMT, ED preceptorship, or ED PCA.

Nice-to-haves

  • Interest in specialties such as General Medicine, General Surgery, Neurology, Orthopedics, Respiratory Acute Care Unit, and Emergency Department.
