About The Position

Providence Health Care (PHC) is currently accepting applications from soon-to-graduate nursing students and recent graduates! As a Staff Nurse, you'll be at the forefront of patient care, working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure patients/residents receive comprehensive support.

Requirements

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
  • Ability to work as a member in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to apply decision making and analytical skills.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to teach and identify patient/resident learning needs.
  • Ability to lead patient/family group sessions.
  • Ability to provide clinical direction.
  • Any new graduate nurse (temporary or permanent) is required to maintain employment at a minimum of 0.7 FTE for a minimum of 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Incorporate teaching into care plans to educate patients and families.
  • Make referrals to resources as needed.
  • Support fellow healthcare professionals.
  • Operate within the framework of Providence Health Care's mission, vision, and values.
  • Conducts thorough patient/resident assessments through chart reviews, observations, interviews, and collaboration with peers.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates nursing care plans based on evidence-based practices, prioritizing patient/resident needs.
  • Adheres to established policies, procedures, and PHC standards while providing high-quality nursing care.
  • Monitor patient/resident progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed for optimal results.
  • Maintains accurate records of assessments, care plans, patient/resident status, and discharge plans using manual and computerized systems.
  • Identifies and address patient/resident and family learning needs, providing education and referrals as necessary.
  • Provides direction to staff, promote teamwork, and share clinical knowledge to enhance patient care.
  • Supports nursing research initiatives and contributes to the improvement of patient/resident care policies and procedures.
  • Advocates for patients/residents' rights and dignity, facilitates discharge plans, and collaborates with families and community resources.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support the healthcare team.
