About the position

The New Grad RN Nurse Residency in Behavioral Health at Research Psychiatric Center is a full-time position designed for recent nursing graduates. This program offers a year-long residency that provides hands-on experience and support as new nurses transition from academic settings to clinical practice. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a behavioral health environment, with opportunities for advanced clinical training, mentorship, and collaboration with experienced healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers.
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses.
  • Notify providers and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate patient needs.
  • Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up measures.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing completed by start date.
  • Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State, with a grace period to pass NCLEX.

Nice-to-haves

  • No previous experience needed.
  • Some travel may be needed for training, remaining local to the Kansas City metro area.
