About the position
The New Grad Estimator I position at HNTB is designed for current or former interns, focusing on performing routine estimating assignments under close supervision. The role involves accurately projecting costs for upcoming infrastructure projects, preparing economic cost studies, and supporting change management and claims analysis.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes bid and design documents to perform quantity takeoffs to support labor, equipment, and material cost development.
- Estimates labor, material and equipment costs of construction based on design drawings and specifications.
- Collects construction cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Gathers and utilizes industry data/publications for estimating purposes.
- Uses estimating software to support the development of cost estimates with guidance from lead/senior estimators.
- Creates cost models for cost estimating elements.
- Supports the preparation of independent cost estimates as part of change management, claims analysis, and price negotiations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field, or
- In lieu of education, 4 years relevant experience with the development of cost estimates.
Nice-to-haves
- College coursework or equivalent technical coursework in design drawings and specifications reading, quantity take offs and cost estimating fundamentals.
