About The Position

The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University (SSVM) is seeking Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians to join its new veterinary program and teaching hospital. This state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced technology, including a 3T MRI and 128-slice CT, and is designed to support multiple specialty departments. The selected candidates will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive and quality care to clients and patients, while also contributing to the education of veterinary students. The positions require a commitment to a collaborative work culture and the ability to adapt and problem-solve in a rapidly growing and evolving environment.

Requirements

  • Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a neurology veterinary technician
  • Familiar with common neurologic disease, neurologic surgery and post operative care
  • Proficient with anesthesia and anesthetic patient monitoring of ASA I-III (preferred experience with ASA I-V)
  • Has experience in surgical assisting and post-operative care
  • Able to obtain blood pressure, interpret basic ECG, Sp02, and ETC02 and integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors in early and appropriate intervention of patient care
  • Available for future on-call rotation (required)
  • Has strong communication skills
  • Veterinary Technicians (Credentialed, evidence of passing the VTNE)
  • Veterinary Assistants (Non-Credentialed)
  • Employees must have 4+ years of applicable experience to be hired above the probationary rate per the collective bargaining agreement.

  • CVT/LVT/RVT (active license)
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution)
  • Has experience running diagnostic imaging (MRI/CT/Radiology)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to observe the behavior and condition of animals
  • Provide superior nursing care or emergency first aid to recovering or injured animals
  • Familiarity with the use of ventilators
  • Comfortable utilizing digital radiography machines to acquire images using proper technique and positioning
  • Comfortable utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment
