About the position
Geisinger's Neuroscience Institute is seeking a neurology physician assistant or nurse practitioner to join the growing team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The role primarily involves general neurology, focusing on patient assessment, triage, and follow-up care, while ensuring effective communication with patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial assessment and triage of patients based on presenting conditions.
- Keep track of pertinent procedure and laboratory results, discussing them with the physician.
- Return calls to family and patients regarding results and plans.
- Assist with arranging appropriate follow-up for patients.
- Answer and return phone calls from established patients and their families, assessing their needs.
- Discuss plans with the physician and relay information to the family and patient.
- Obtain or assist in the preauthorization process for medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments.
Requirements
- Graduate of an ARC-approved physician assistant program or an approved program for Nurse Practitioners.
- Eligible or certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- Must be certified to work with all patient population age groups.
- Basic Life Support Certification.
