About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Network Engineer to design and plan network communications systems. This role involves providing documentation for network architecture, conducting testing of network designs, and monitoring network hardware operations to ensure proper configuration. The Network Engineer will plan enhancements and upgrades, advise users on hardware requirements, and maintain expertise in network hardware and software interconnection, including routers, firewalls, switches, and sensors. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting network issues, providing solutions to leadership, and utilizing change management processes for network modifications. The role also oversees the deployment of new infrastructure systems, manages firewall rules on various devices, troubleshoots in multi-site environments, and performs code upgrades on network infrastructure. Incident management, configuration management, and participation in organizational meetings are also key aspects. Additionally, the engineer will operate and maintain Big IP F5 partitions and be familiar with Department of Defense network security requirements, engineering and operating enterprise security appliances.

Requirements

  • 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD, 9 years with HS diploma
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have active Secret clearance
  • Must have 8570 Certification - Security +
  • Experience with Cisco ACI
  • Experience with network infrastructure
  • Experience with the configuration and operation of Cisco and Juniper switching and routing infrastructure
  • Experience with routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP

Responsibilities

  • Design and plan network communications systems.
  • Provide documentation for network architecture.
  • Conduct testing of network design.
  • Monitor network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options.
  • Plan implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network.
  • Advise network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, firewalls, switches, and sensors.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and provide recommended solutions to government leadership for approval.
  • Use change management processes to ensure modifications to network configs are approved prior to implementation.
  • Oversee the deployment of new infrastructure systems and make changes to existing infrastructure.
  • Add/Remove/Modify firewall rules on Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto devices.
  • Troubleshoot network issues in a multi-site and enterprise environment.
  • Perform code upgrades on network infrastructure.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and health, respond to and resolve infrastructure-related incidents and outages.
  • Ensure proper configuration management of network configuration items.
  • Participate in organization meetings, town halls, and similar events to integrate into the organization structure.
  • Operate and maintain Big IP F5 partition to include architecture, configuration, and ongoing operational support.
  • Be familiar with Department of Defense network security requirements and be able to engineer, configure, and operate enterprise security appliances such as firewalls, WAF appliances, and load balancers to support the connectivity of distributed enterprise applications and application load balancing requirements across the enterprise.
