About The Position

This position involves configuring and maintaining network hardware and software, ensuring network security and integrity, monitoring network performance, and troubleshooting network issues. The role requires decomposing project objectives into defined design requirements, using best practices in design methodologies, technologies, and processes to develop and validate designs. The engineer will maintain familiarity with applicable codes and standards, document designs to ensure conformance, and establish testing, inspection, and quality requirements. Responsibilities also include overseeing fabrication, construction, assembly, and procurement to ensure adherence to the design, along with other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, Network and Security Administration, Network Engineering and Security, Computer Information Systems, or Computer Science from an accredited institution.
  • EX4: Bachelor plus 9 or Masters plus 6 years of experience.
  • Relevant experience commensurate with level.
  • Demonstrated experience in routing and switching.
  • Network training and experience in Windows, Linux, Apple, and/or OS.
  • Understanding of network monitoring and relationships to cyber security.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-clearance.

  • Experience with TacLANEs and/or end to end network encryption methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain network hardware and software.
  • Ensure network security and integrity.
  • Monitor network performance.
  • Troubleshoot network issues.
  • Decompose project objectives into defined and controlled design requirements.
  • Use design methodologies, technologies, and processes which are best practice for the technical discipline to develop and define a design, and to validate that the design meets defined requirements.
  • Maintain familiarity with and technical understanding of codes and standards applicable to the discipline.
  • Document the design (controlled and approved models, drawings, specifications, design descriptions) to establish conformance with design requirements and applicable codes and standards.
  • Establish testing, inspection, and quality requirements to ensure technical features important to design functions are maintained.
  • Oversee or otherwise ensure that fabrication, construction, assembly, and procurement are done in accordance with the design.
  • Other duties as assigned.
