About the position

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day support, design and operations of Golub Capital data networks (wired and wireless), enterprise network architecture, network technology evaluations, network security, protocol analysis, configuration, research, complex trouble shooting and analysis. In addition, the Senior Network Engineer takes an active role in capacity planning, network monitoring and technology mentoring. The Technology Solutions Department is responsible for designing and delivering state of the art technology solutions that are designed to create efficiency, mitigate risk and grow revenue for the Firm. Technology Solutions is also responsible for defining, managing and executing a robust Cyber Security program following the NIST Cyber Security Framework. Technology Solutions focuses on technical excellence through innovative application designs, robust data integration and analytics, high availability infrastructure and gold level service for our key stakeholders with information security embedded throughout. Critical functions within Technology Solutions include Project Management, Vendor Management, Business Analysis, Enterprise Data Governance and Stewardship, Application Development and 3rd Party Integration, Strategic and Secure Infrastructure and Operations. The Technology Solutions Department collaborates closely with Firm leadership and business unit heads to develop plans in line with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring highly available, secure and performant enterprise networks
  • Design, develop and implement network solutions
  • Provide highly skilled technical assistance in network planning, engineering and architecture
  • Develop technical standards, identify and evaluate new products and provide resolution for network problems
  • Identify and diagnose complex problems and factors affecting network performance
  • Provide implementation and technology review for the Technology Solutions Team as it relates to the enterprise network
  • Collaborate with vendors to identify and purchase hardware and software
  • Study vendor products to determine those which best meet company needs and assist in presentation of information to management
  • Provide guidance and direction for less experienced network engineers
  • Evaluate new products / technologies to determine impact on existing system configurations
  • Evaluate and find opportunities for network performance, security and functionality improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science or related field is required
  • Deep comprehension of Routing Protocols (BGP, OSFP)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure Networking (Virtual network VNET, Private Link, Azure DNS, Azure Firewall, NAT Gateway, Virtual WAN, IPSEC VPN Tunnels)
  • Proficient in Cisco Switching and Routing technology, including the use of IOS
  • Strong knowledge with Palo Alto NGFW Physical & Virtual Firewall Technologies (PanOS 10.X and above, Panorama, IPsec VPN, Site-to-Site VPN, EDL)
  • Experience with Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA), Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) and Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX)
  • Experience in field deployment and configuration of network devices, must be hands-on
  • Experience with Cisco Wireless Technology (deployment and support)
  • Experience performing network traffic and protocol analysis using standard industry tools (Wireshark, tcpdump)
  • Experience with network management and monitoring tools (SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor, LogicMonitor)
  • Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) is desired
