About the position

The National Strategic Accounts Manager at Builders FirstSource is a key role focused on maximizing market share and wallet share with strategic national builder accounts. This position involves creating and maintaining relationships with decision-makers, managing portfolio volume, and driving brand growth through effective collaboration with various corporate resources. The role requires a deep understanding of the construction and building materials market, as well as the ability to execute strategic initiatives that align with the company's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to maximize market share and wallet share with key strategic national builder accounts.
  • Utilize the Engage Salesforce CRM platform to identify opportunities and track progress.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with decision-makers.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Regions and Areas to identify targets and close deals.
  • Cultivate and sustain robust relationships with key clients, acting as their primary national point of contact for all inquiries, concerns, and escalations.
  • Take responsibility for bid management and follow-up with customers on share gain opportunities.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of our products and services across our US businesses.
  • Communicate with Supply Chain to develop efficient demand planning to drive value for both BFS and our customer.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with clients to evaluate their satisfaction, identify areas for improvement, and uncover opportunities for growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales or related field from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • 5 years of directly related experience managing a sales department or managing builder relationships within the industry.
  • 5 years+ of prior experience selling to professional builders is required.
  • Proven experience in sales and account management, preferably in the construction or building materials industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using the Engage Salesforce CRM platform and other sales tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience addressing strategic issues as well as day-to-day operational concerns.
  • Working knowledge of the national account business model including pricing, programming, program execution, and inventory management.
