About the position

The National Complex Claims Leader at Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) is responsible for overseeing complex claims management processes, building relationships with stakeholders, and providing expert guidance on claims resolution. This role involves engaging with clients and attorneys, developing protocols for handling complex claims, and participating in national claims initiatives. The position requires a strong legal background and the ability to navigate challenging claims situations while supporting regional teams in client retention efforts.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with stakeholders including MMA national leadership and regional claims leadership.
• Serve as an advisor for regions to develop claims management processes.
• Resolve complex claims and identify problematic claim trends.
• Engage directly with clients or client attorneys to educate them on claims processes.
• Develop protocols for handling complex claims.
• Provide Errors and Omissions (E&O) expertise and guidance.
• Participate in New Business and Renewal opportunities by developing presentations.
• Negotiate guidelines and branded endorsements with carriers and wholesalers.
• Maintain a scorecard related to resolved complex claim matters.
• Develop claim data for tracking claims and identifying trends.
• Support regions with client retention during challenging claims situations.
• Monitor policy exclusionary wording.
• Interact closely with Marsh Claims Advocacy and Technical Issues Group.
• Build and maintain strong relationships within MMA and with insurers.

Requirements

• Law degree (J.D.), AIC, ARM, CIC or CRM certification.
• Property & Casualty License or willingness to obtain it.
• Established relationships with local and national law firms.
• Comfortability with travel.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in claims advocacy and negotiation.
• Familiarity with insurance industry standards and practices.
