About the position

The National Account Consultant for Community Rated Group (CRG) and Affordable Care Act (ACA) is responsible for managing a defined book of business that primarily involves small national employer groups and their consultants. This role focuses on developing and executing account strategies to protect market share, promote growth, and secure new business. The consultant serves as the primary contact for prospective National Account employers, providing education on health plans and USAble Life product options, while supporting HMSA's overall sales and service strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute account strategies to protect market share and promote growth.
  • Serve as the principal contact for prospective National Account employers regarding small group health plans.
  • Conduct benefit and health plan education for small CRG and ACA groups.
  • Manage rate renewal and enhance retention activities with key decision makers and consultants.
  • Achieve membership goals, quotas, and minimum activity standards.
  • Manage RFI and RFP responses ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Promote HMSA's products and services through consistent customer contact via phone and email.
  • Research and analyze information to understand HMSA's position on customer issues and negotiate outcomes as needed.
  • Educate employer groups on new HMSA programs and industry trends.
  • Maintain accurate records of all activity and document interactions via Salesforce.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem analysis skills.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Active license with the state of Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, or ability to pass all four sections of the state licensing examination within three months of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Knowledge of government regulations related to healthcare.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM software.
