About the position

Haverhill Public Schools is seeking a middle school music teacher for the 2024-2025 school year at Consentino Middle School. The position requires a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, and candidates who are bilingual are preferred. The teacher will be responsible for engaging students in learning experiences that promote complex knowledge and skills in music, while also addressing the developmental levels and learning styles of all students.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement curriculum and lesson plans that meet state standards and local curricula.
  • Administer a variety of assessments to measure student learning and progress.
  • Analyze assessment data to improve student learning and adjust instructional practices.
  • Create a safe and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation.
  • Foster respect for diversity and address conflicts arising from differences in backgrounds.
  • Engage families in the educational process and communicate effectively about student performance.
  • Reflect on teaching practices and seek professional growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop standards-based units and interventions.
  • Contribute to school-wide decision-making and reinforce behavior expectations.

Requirements

  • Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education in: 5-8 SEI Endorsement Required.
  • Proficiency in music education as evidenced through transcripts of undergraduate and graduate work.
  • Knowledge of middle school philosophy, organization, and curricula.
  • Understanding of the needs of middle school students.
  • Knowledge of recommended middle school instructional practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual candidates preferred.
  • Evidence of academic accomplishment and strength in content areas.
