About the position

As a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) at Spectrum News, you will engage with your community to uncover and report on important stories. This role involves pitching, writing, shooting, interviewing, and editing, allowing you to take ownership of the storytelling process. You will work collaboratively with a team to create timely and accurate news coverage across various platforms, including TV and digital media. Responsibilities

• Engage with community members to uncover and report on important stories.
• Pitch, write, shoot, interview, and edit news stories.
• Collaborate with a team to create compelling news coverage.
• Utilize various platforms including TV, connected television, and digital media.
• Work under tight deadlines and adapt to breaking news situations.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in television news reporting.
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or comparable television work experience.
• Ability to shoot videos and understand video editing software.
• Effective communication skills on camera and through writing.
• Innate curiosity and urgency in creating compelling stories.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
• Open to travel for community engagement.
• Willingness to work under time pressure and flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Valid driver's license for authorized driving.
