About The Position

Highline Academy is seeking a dedicated Multilingual Education (MLE) Teacher for the Northeast Campus for the 2026-2027 school year. Reporting directly to the campus principal, teachers are central to the organization's mission of fostering academic, personal, and civic excellence in a diverse community. The ideal candidate will be caring towards the whole child, an excellent lesson planner, possess strong and nurturing classroom management skills, and be a collaborative team member with colleagues and families. We value individuals with strong communication skills, a dedication to making a difference for each child, and a growth mindset. The position involves a 195-day work year, including 177 student contact days, professional development days, and parent conference days. Teachers are expected to be on campus from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm on most days, and until 4:30 pm on Fridays. Two weeks of professional development are also required each summer before the school year begins.

  • Collaborate with grade-level peers to provide a rigorous and supportive curriculum for students qualifying for MLE supports.
  • Use data to monitor student learning, make decisions about grouping, and determine next steps in lesson planning.
  • Meet in data teams to reflect upon student progress and support other teachers in interpreting their data.
  • Meet at least weekly with their team to co-plan lessons and units.
  • Meet with special education or interventionist teachers to further support all students.
  • Teach assigned classes, groups, or programs.
  • Help each other with lesson and unit planning, dividing work as a team.
  • Enter attendance each day into IC and enter grades into the school learning management system based on standards-aligned assessments.
  • Provide Teaching Assistants with appropriate assignments and guidance for working with students.
  • Set the tone and community expectations for students each day.
  • Build positive relationships with students and hold them to high expectations.
  • Manage classes with positive proactive systems and strong rituals and routines.
  • Seek out information and support from other staff if a student is not doing well behaviorally or academically.
  • Serve as a point of contact for student-family communication.
  • Set up a website and/or send home a regular newsletter about classwork.
  • Engage parents by inviting them to participate as volunteers or in class events.
  • Build relationships with families through phone calls and meetings.
  • Ensure all families attend student conferences held twice a year.
  • Show up for at least three evening or weekend events.
  • Help plan and lead at least one event for families during the year.
  • Attend all professional development as assigned by their principal and participate with respect and attention.
  • Participate as a member of at least one network, school, board or parent group committee.
