About the position

The CIBC Summer Internship Program is designed to provide undergraduate and graduate students with valuable work experience that complements their academic training and career aspirations. Interns will engage with executive leadership, network with peers, and participate in community outreach while gaining hands-on experience in investment manager research alongside a team of investment professionals.

Responsibilities

• Learning the basics of investment manager research
• Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis on current and prospective investments
• Conducting financial modeling, forecasting, and valuation analysis
• Performing ESG analysis, including targets and progress
• Researching investment strategies and identifying competitive advantages and risks
• Conducting operational due diligence by meeting with investment management and risk management teams
• Utilizing investment databases such as Factset and Bloomberg
• Participating in and summarizing investment manager meetings
• Writing investment reports
• Assisting with thematic research
• Communicating insights with the manager research team

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2026
• Strong interest in investment markets and investment manager research
• Intellectual curiosity and independence of thought
• Superior quantitative and analytical abilities
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to read and write extensively
• Good judgment and professionalism in work products and interactions
• Competency with Microsoft Office's Excel
• Familiarity with Bloomberg or Factset is helpful

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in investment clubs or internships
• Demonstrated ability to organize thoughts and communicate ideas effectively
