About the position

The MS Boys' Assistant Swimming Coach is responsible for instructing athletes in swimming skills, strategies, and physical training to foster individual and team success. The role emphasizes character development, self-discipline, and self-confidence among student athletes. The coach is also expected to enhance their coaching knowledge through clinics and consultations.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct athletes in fundamental swimming skills and strategies.
  • Participate in budgeting for the swimming program and recommend equipment guidelines.
  • Manage and account for all swimming equipment, including issuing and storing.
  • Monitor locker rooms and ensure cleanliness and maintenance of equipment.
  • Organize preseason meetings with parents, coaches, and players.
  • Promote the swimming program within the school and community.
  • Establish coaching philosophies and techniques to be taught by staff.
  • Assist the athletic director in scheduling and transportation for events.
  • Mentor athletes in character development and academic performance.
  • Complete paperwork for athletic injuries and maintain safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous coaching experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of athletic policies and regulations.
  • Ability to organize and supervise a sports program effectively.
  • Substantial knowledge of swimming techniques and training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mentoring student athletes.
  • Knowledge of media relations and public relations strategies.
