About the position

The MRI Technologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center is responsible for performing MRI procedures to provide quality diagnostic images for patient care. This role involves operating MRI equipment, ensuring patient safety, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality imaging services. The technologist also plays a key role in training and mentoring staff and students, while adhering to safety standards and protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI procedures on patients as prescribed by clinicians.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during imaging procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with radiologists, physicists, and nursing staff.
  • Provide training and mentoring to students and staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of imaging rooms and work areas.
  • Monitor and manage patient care activities, including IV insertion and patient assessments.
  • Adhere to infection control practices and MRI safety guidelines.
  • Document patient information accurately and maintain confidentiality.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance patient care.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and report malfunctions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved American Medical Association (AMA) Radiologic Technology program.
  • Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • One year of MRI Technologist experience or two years of Radiologic Technologist experience at MD Anderson.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Level Degree in a related field.
  • ARRT (MRI) certification within 60 days of hire.
  • ACLS certification.
  • PALS/PEARS certification.
