About The Position

Under the direction of the technical supervisor and medical director, the MRI Technologist II demonstrates proficiency in all skills required to competently perform routine and advanced MRI procedures under minimal supervision. All MRI technologists utilize knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, and patient positioning to obtain high quality diagnostic images. The technologist competently evaluates the technical quality of the images obtained and makes necessary corrections to optimize the exam. They educate the patient/family about the procedure and report all changes in patient’s status, including initiating emergency response if required. They accurately document patient information in the appropriate hospital systems. Hospital based positions may require call responsibility and rotation to hospital adjacent imaging center locations. Performs other duties as assigned. All MRI Technologists project an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct and support the Radiology Department mission. They participate in the continuous quality improvement process while maintaining a working knowledge and following all departmental and organizational policies and procedures. This knowledge may include the use of specialized instrumentation and quality control requirements, as well as specific regulatory requirements of Title 22, California Licensing & Certification of Healthcare Facilities. This position is Per Diem status.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or higher.
  • Graduate of an ARRT approved educational program in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
  • Three years of MRI experience.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification in MRI.
  • Valid Venipuncture Certification as required by State of California Health & Safety Code.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an acute care environment is preferred.
  • California State Radiologic Technologist License.
  • ARMRIT certification may be accepted if candidate is ARRT board eligible and obtains ARRT MR certification within 6 months of hire.
