About The Position

This is an entry-level position in the motor vehicle job series, performing entry-level work under direct supervision. The Technician provides customer service to the general public, interacts with outside organizations to obtain information, and performs clerical and administrative duties. The position works under close supervision. The Specialist position is distinguished from the Technician by increased experience in records management, successful cross training in other Clerk & Recording areas, and ability to work independently.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of administrative and customer service experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must obtain State certification within one year of hire.
  • Ability to utilize the technology required of the position and demonstrates a willingness to learn new technologies as required.
  • Proficient in communication, and able to communicate using the English language, including written, verbal, or other communication channels as required by the position.
  • Pre-employment background check which will include a Criminal Background Check, Employment Verification, and Motor Vehicle Record Check.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all customers promptly.
  • Assist customers at counter appropriately and provides the customer with accurate information and excellent customer service.
  • Answer basic motor vehicle and office questions.
  • Locate and provide documents and records.
  • Fill out forms accurately.
  • Answer telephones promptly, provide accurate and detailed information.
  • Process various documents, ensuring that all necessary forms are complete and accurate.
  • Use computer and software applications to accurately enter data; search databases; conduct research; create documents; and send emails.
  • Receive and participate in training on motor vehicle policies, procedure, processes and application of Colorado statutes and legislation.
  • Process Colorado motor vehicle titles and registrations, registration documents, validation of tabs, issue placards and temporary license permits.
  • Training and understanding of Colorado fees in all motor vehicle transactions.
  • Functions as cashier executes proper cash handling procedures; receives and processes cash, checks and/or credit card payments, balances cash drawer at the end of the day.
  • Complete basic office housekeeping such as filing and organization of records.
  • Contact outside organizations to obtain and provide information.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all records.
  • Compose clear and grammatically correct written communication that is submitted to customers and financial institutions.
  • Perform research on legal documents using State resources.
  • May provide office support for Department Head/Official and Deputy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
