About The Position

United Bank is seeking a Mortgage Secondary Market Associate I to assist the Mortgage Division Manager in monitoring the 1-4 single-family mortgage loan pipeline. This role involves executing best effort lock-in commitments with secondary market investors and in-house loans, maintaining investor approvals through annual certifications, and monitoring various reports to identify potential issues. The Associate will also prepare and maintain management reports.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Previous mortgage experience helpful.
  • Reasoning skills required.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of investor and secondary market guidelines preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors rates throughout the day and assists Loan Originators with special rate programs.
  • Locks in best effort commitments with secondary market investors.
  • Monitors expiring locks to ensure loans close or ship before expiration, making adjustments as needed.
  • Completes annual certification forms required to retain the bank’s secondary market investor approval (Freedom Mortgage, Citizen Bank, HUD, Freddie Mac, and USDA).
  • Researches and answers questions from customers, internal and external employees, and investors.
  • Assists Mortgage Division Manager with the annual budget process and tracking loan production and performance against projections.
  • Completes weekly and monthly Mortgage Division reports, including pipeline, production, and analysis reports.
  • Monitors online applications and submits referrals/applications to originators when a customer does not select a specific lender.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Complies with all Federal and State banking laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act.
