About the position
The Montessori Classroom Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in supporting the Lead Guide in creating a nurturing and effective learning environment for children aged 2 years 9 months to 12 years. This position involves assisting in the implementation of the Montessori curriculum, ensuring the safety and well-being of students, and fostering positive relationships with children and their caregivers. The role requires a commitment to the Montessori philosophy and effective classroom management skills to support the educational journey of each child.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Guide in creating and implementing a classroom community.
- Establish positive relationships with children and their caregivers.
- Observe individual children and the community of children daily.
- Maintain a prepared learning environment for individual and classroom success.
- Monitor playground and classroom areas for safety hazards.
- Communicate effectively with caregivers and children.
- Complete safety trainings and uphold school policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional development and maintain licensing records.
- Support classroom management and enforce ground rules.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of direct experience working with children.
- Ability to work a 9:00 am to 5:00 pm shift Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and child safety skills required.
- Knowledge of Montessori philosophy and practices.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience of 5 years or more working directly with children.
- Experience working in a Montessori setting.
- Training in Montessori philosophy.
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
