Responsibilities
- Maintains equipment and records.
- Performs quality control and quality assurance activities.
- Participates in the evaluation of new procedures and equipment.
- Provides training for technologists, residents, fellows, and other medical staff.
- Works efficiently in a computerized environment.
- Assists with clerical duties, reagent preparation, and inventory control.
- Writes and revises technical procedures.
- Receives, accessions, and processes blood and a variety of other human specimens.
- Performs and reports tests according to standard operating procedures in the clinical molecular laboratory.
- Demonstrates knowledge of molecular testing theory and scientific principles.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Molecular Biology.
- ASCP certification.
- Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology, Medical technology or Biologic Science.
- Licensed Medical Technologist with Molecular Specialty by the state of Florida.
- 12 months experience in molecular pathology, medical technology or related field.
- Experience related to nucleic acid extraction and amplification by PCR techniques, DNA sequencing, mutation analysis, molecular oncology.
- Knowledge of appropriate specimen handling, quality control, and quality assurance as related to molecular laboratory techniques.
- Sound technical knowledge of specialty as it relates to test validation, performance, QC, and QA activities.
