Responsibilities

  • Maintains equipment and records.
  • Performs quality control and quality assurance activities.
  • Participates in the evaluation of new procedures and equipment.
  • Provides training for technologists, residents, fellows, and other medical staff.
  • Works efficiently in a computerized environment.
  • Assists with clerical duties, reagent preparation, and inventory control.
  • Writes and revises technical procedures.
  • Receives, accessions, and processes blood and a variety of other human specimens.
  • Performs and reports tests according to standard operating procedures in the clinical molecular laboratory.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of molecular testing theory and scientific principles.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Molecular Biology.
  • ASCP certification.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology, Medical technology or Biologic Science.
  • Licensed Medical Technologist with Molecular Specialty by the state of Florida.
  • 12 months experience in molecular pathology, medical technology or related field.
  • Experience related to nucleic acid extraction and amplification by PCR techniques, DNA sequencing, mutation analysis, molecular oncology.
  • Knowledge of appropriate specimen handling, quality control, and quality assurance as related to molecular laboratory techniques.
  • Sound technical knowledge of specialty as it relates to test validation, performance, QC, and QA activities.
