About the position

The position involves performing assembly, disassembly, modification, repair, and inspection of Trident II missiles and associated components under the guidance of higher-level personnel. The role requires knowledge of various systems and the ability to ensure quality assurance and acceptance of Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) systems and materials at the Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic (SWFLANT).

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks associated with the assembly, disassembly, modification, repair, checkout, and movement of Trident II missiles and components.
  • Conduct inspections and quality assurance for FBM systems and materials.
  • Assist in assembly and disassembly operations, including the removal and installation of various components.
  • Prepare and process documentation for parts and systems.
  • Evaluate test data and recommend improvements for quality assurance processes.
  • Monitor production and test activities continuously.
  • Assist in testing operations such as electrical continuity and helium leak tests.
  • Inspect for proper completion of documentation and handling of hazardous materials.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • General knowledge of inspection practices and procedures for acceptance of parts.
  • Ability to use measuring and inspection tools effectively.
  • Ability to work with hazardous materials and read specifications.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficiency with general-purpose hand tools.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications and security clearances.

  • Familiarity with inspection practices and operational test methods for missiles.
  • Experience working with or around ordnance.
