About the position

The Millwright position at ABX Innovative Packaging Solutions involves performing mechanical repairs, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety compliance within the facility. The role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and maintenance tasks, contributing to the overall efficiency and quality of production processes. The Millwright will work closely with the Maintenance Manager and other departments to support operational goals and uphold safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a safe manner and follow all company EH&S rules.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in requisitioning maintenance supplies and maintaining maintenance records and files.
  • Perform mechanical repair tasks submitted on work orders by production or any other department that are approved by the Maintenance Supervisor with minimum supervision.
  • Install/modify equipment with minimum supervision from the Maintenance Manager and/or Plant Engineer.
  • Conduct hazardous waste surveys and complete inspection forms when instructed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Handle hazardous materials safely during maintenance activities and manage waste cleanup.
  • Notify appropriate personnel in case of hazardous material spills during handling activities.
  • Manage facility hazardous and non-hazardous waste activity/equipment when assigned.
  • Perform routine work such as chrome roll, rubber roll, and extruder screen pack changes, die settings/cleaning, and bearing replacement with no supervision.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions on production and facility equipment with minimum supervision.
  • Know the complete layout and function of plant fire protection equipment and implement procedures when components are out of service.
  • Check air compressors for proper operation during shifts and lubricate machine oilers/sliders as required.
  • Remove and clean equipment and trash from work areas after maintenance jobs are completed.
  • Use maintenance shop tools and equipment properly on all production equipment.
  • Grind slitter/extruder knives and back-up drums that are dull.
  • Check and repair production equipment during scheduled maintenance functions and inform the Maintenance Supervisor of potential problems.
  • Operate lift truck for maintenance purposes and keep the Maintenance shop facilities clean and orderly.
  • Identify existing or potential problems and take actions to prevent or reduce production equipment downtime.
  • Manage the production roller tracking program according to management procedures.
  • Operate all Maintenance Department welding and cutting equipment and perform weld layout and fabrication of assigned projects.
  • Follow all SOP, WI, and GMP's for food product safety per ASI requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience in mechanical repair and maintenance in an industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and hazardous waste management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair production equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with plant fire protection systems and emergency procedures.
  • Proficient in using maintenance shop tools and equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with welding and fabrication in various positions.
  • Cross-training in different maintenance disciplines.
  • Strong organizational and public relations skills.
