2026-2027 Lead Middle School Social Studies Teacher
About The Position
KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks middle school teachers for our 5th through 8th grade classrooms in the 2026-2027 school year. Teachers are assigned one grade level and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader. In our current model, there are four “home room” teachers on each grade level who are each responsible for teaching a single core subject. This posting is specifically for those candidates interested in teaching social studies. Class size is typically about 25 students per class.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in Social Studies 5-9 or Social Science 6-12
- At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
- Possesses a deep commitment to creating an inclusive, healthy, and empowering community for our students.
- Passing a background check, as required by law
Nice To Haves
- Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress) if teaching English Language Arts
- ESOL Endorsement (or competency coursework in progress)
- Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom in a relevant grade level
