About The Position

Wicomico County Public Schools is seeking an innovative Gifted and Talented (GT) teacher that values collaboration and thrives working cohesively with a team. This teaching position exists in the middle (grades 6-8), TAD (Thinking and Doing) GT program. The GT teacher is responsible for identifying, instructing, and supporting students with exceptional abilities. This position requires reliable transportation as the assignment will float between 2-3 district middle schools.

Requirements

Valid teaching certification for middle school grade levels.
Knowledgeable of instructional strategies that motivate and engage gifted and talented learners.
Demonstrates experience in curriculum development, project-based learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Proficient in integrating technology into the curriculum.
Passion for innovative teaching methods and a commitment to student success.
Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative, and forward-thinking educational environment.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
Master’s degree in Gifted Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field

Responsibilities

Work with the GT team to design and implement challenging, differentiated lessons tailored to gifted learners.
Collaborate with GT team to create a middle school TAD curriculum that is consistently implemented across the district.
Facilitate engaging and hands-on projects that promote critical thinking, creativity, and practical application of inquiry-based instruction.
Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance learning.
Advise and assist district and school leaders with best practices for the identification and support of gifted and talented learners.
Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay abreast of current trends in gifted and talented education.
Foster positive relationships with parents, community members, and colleagues to enhance instructional experiences for gifted and talented students.
