About The Position

AZACS is growing and invites applications for an award-winning team. Under the supervision and direction of Campus Leadership, the Certified Special Education Teacher will effectively manage a caseload of students while preparing lesson plans, instructing students, evaluating and monitoring students’ performance, and advancing student achievement. The teacher will differentiate instruction for various learners and collaborate with a team to plan and support instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals. Commitment to professional development through workshops and coaching is expected. Candidates should have a passion for students on the spectrum and a willingness to be trained and coached in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies. The role supports a caseload of students and implements a best-practice educational model to achieve optimal results for students on the autism spectrum and those with other related disorders.

Requirements

  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Experience managing and teaching a caseload of students with disabilities
  • At least 3 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Engaged in the oversight of staff and student caseload
  • Provided instructional support for students enrolled in the on-site school
  • Provide daily feedback to paraprofessionals and behavior specialists
  • Professional development for staff on modifications and implementation
  • Analyze curriculum data bi-weekly to make instructional decisions
  • Ongoing Student and Parent Communication
  • Modification of materials for classrooms as needed
  • Structured teaching planning, organizing, and implementing
  • Staff communication/feedback
  • Maintain substitute plans in case of the Lead Instructor's absence
  • Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
  • Maintains knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study
  • Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for caseload and attend all required student meetings
  • Collect, analyze, and report data in a meaningful manner
  • Celebrates the achievements and successes of students.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is a key requirement of this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Directs, monitors, and mentors paraprofessionals and behavior specialists working with students who have disabilities.
