About the position

The After-School Activity Leader at Hidden Oaks Elementary is responsible for creating a safe and engaging environment for students during after-school hours. This role involves supervising students, implementing structured activities, providing academic support, and fostering positive social interactions. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children and committed to making a positive impact in their lives.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise students during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Plan and facilitate structured activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and educational projects.
  • Provide academic support to students, assisting them with homework and reinforcing concepts learned in school.
  • Foster positive relationships among students by promoting teamwork, conflict resolution, and respect for others.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment in all activity areas, including classrooms, playgrounds, and common areas.
  • Enforce program rules and policies consistently, addressing any disciplinary issues with fairness and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement enrichment programs and special events.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students, demonstrating integrity, empathy, and enthusiasm for learning.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school, camp, or recreational setting strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and supportive attitude in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Basic knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate activities.
  • First aid and CPR certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification upon hiring.
  • Must pass a level II background check and meet compliance requirements.
