About the position
The Middle Market Lead Underwriter is responsible for managing and servicing a profitable renewal book of Commercial Lines business within a defined territory. This role requires a high level of technical underwriting ability and involves leading renewal strategy meetings, acting as an Account Steward for customers, and serving as a key point of contact for agencies. The position also entails making decisions regarding risk acceptability and pricing, providing agency service, and maintaining intra-company communications. The Lead Underwriter is regarded as a peer leader and subject matter expert, mentoring others in technical and sales skills.
Responsibilities
- Manage and service a profitable renewal book of Commercial Lines business.
- Lead monthly renewal strategy meetings.
- Act as an Account Steward for customers.
- Serve as a key point of contact for agencies.
- Make responsible decisions regarding risk acceptability and pricing.
- Provide agency service and maintain intra-company communications.
- Mentor Underwriting Assistants and other team members.
Requirements
