About the position

As a Microbiology Technician at Merieux NutriSciences, you will play a crucial role in ensuring food safety and public health. Your primary mission will be to prepare samples for processing and maintain documentation to facilitate testing procedures. This position is based in Springfield, MO, and involves a variety of laboratory tasks aimed at analyzing samples and supporting quality processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare sample for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
  • Write identification onto plates for tracking client and sample numbers.
  • Pipette sample solution into tubes or plates according to the analysis process.
  • Pour agar into plates or tubes to initiate the growth process.
  • Collect plates and incubate them for the specified time and temperature.
  • Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as required.
  • Ensure media and materials are ready for the next testing sequence.
  • Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
  • Read plates and tubes to determine the number of organisms in the sample.
  • Support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to keep work areas and equipment clean.
  • Participate in cleaning schedules and maintain retain samples.
  • Adhere to all safety policies.
  • Support laboratory management in implementing and improving the management system.
  • Perform other related tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • 1+ year of relevant work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of science to perform testing procedures accurately.
  • Basic knowledge of personal computers for data entry.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory safety procedures.
  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills for analysis procedures.
  • General knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Physical dexterity for manipulating samples.
