About the position

The Metrology Quality Technician/CMM Programmer is responsible for creating, validating, and troubleshooting CMM programs while performing precision inspections to ensure products meet all applicable requirements. This role supports engineering new product development and investigations in metrology through sample measurements, feedback, and early involvement in drawing and GD&T reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Create, validate, and troubleshoot CMM programs.
  • Perform precision inspections, including First Article Inspections (FAIs).
  • Apply advanced knowledge of GD&T and Metrology principles to program CMMs and vision systems.
  • Perform high precision measurements of parts and create inspection reports.
  • Interpret and apply ASME standards and dimensional analysis requirements across inspection functions.
  • Work closely with the team to identify efficiency gaps and implement improvements.
  • Analyze measurement standards and processes to provide accurate measurement strategies.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers, Technicians, and Inspectors to develop inspection methods and instructions.
  • Support quality inspection improvement activities and development of inspection plans.
  • Conduct quality investigations involving measurement methods.

Requirements

  • Hands-on knowledge of mechanical inspection and proficiency in manual & visual inspection equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of GD&T and application of ASME Y14.5-2018.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical engineering practices related to machined parts.
  • Proficiency with CMM programming is required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, data entry skills, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and foster positive relationships with all functional groups.
  • Strong desire to improve, learn, and apply new skills.
  • Problem-solving ability with an organized and analytical approach.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment.
  • Associate degree or higher related to engineering, design, or manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience conducting measurements, programming inspections, and reading engineering drawings.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • 6 years minimum experience in a manufacturing environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with a multitude of measurement equipment such as CMMs, vision systems, and 3D scanning.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
